Hollows, ridges, fields of color
Where acrylic on canvas meets plaster, abstraction gains a body: color that gathers in furrows and fades on ridges. Here you can find abstract acrylic-on-canvas paintings with plaster for sale.
The plaster is troweled on as a paste and colored with acrylic. Without a subject only contrasts remain: coarse against smooth, rich against pale. With a dry brush, color catches only the ridges, with a wet one it flows into the valleys.

Effect in the room
The picture carries color without shouting and fits beside books, plants or furniture. Hanging it slightly off the wall stresses the relief. The canvas edge should be cleanly finished.
Good to know
On canvas, a thick plaster layer can crack if the stretcher gives way. Ask about the stability of the frame and about protection against knocks in transit. Ask about storage too: canvas with plaster should never lie flat under other things. A hanging or upright spot in dry air preserves the surface best.
