Stone on canvas
Acrylic on canvas is light, natural stone is heavy, and the combination yields pictures with a surprising blend of softness and roughness. For under 500 euro you can find acrylic-on-canvas paintings with natural stone for sale that bring grain and color together.
The artist mixes stone dust or fine sand into acrylic paint or scatters grit onto a wet layer. The canvas weave remains the support, and the stone turns it into a surface with depth. The border between paint and material blurs.

Handy and homely
Because the canvas stays light, simple hooks are enough. Small formats work in groups, say three pictures in gray, sand and anthracite. Hang them at eye level so the grain becomes visible.
Good questions
Was the surface fixed, so that no stone rubs off or crumbles? How deep is the stretcher? Answers to those give certainty with small prices as with large ones. With small pictures the edge counts: is the canvas wrapped around the stretcher and painted, or does the work need a frame of its own? That decides the look on the wall and the extra cost.
