Wax on acrylic
Oil pastel on acrylic and canvas joins a stable ground to creamy, luminous chalk. Paintings in this technique under 500 euro are for sale here, in smaller formats that still have the feel of a canvas.
A dry acrylic ground takes oil pastel well. The chalk grips the structure of the canvas, glides over smooth zones and can be built in layers. Because acrylic is waterproof, underpaintings remain untouched, and the lines stand free above them.

What is possible under 500 euro
At this level, small canvases and handy formats are usual with originals. They can be placed on a shelf, on a chest of drawers or on a narrow wall. A shadow-gap frame in wood is a suitable choice.
Care notes
Even on canvas, oil pastel stays soft and sensitive to fingers. Ask whether protection was applied, and hang the picture where nobody touches it. A soft, dry brush takes off dust carefully.
