A canvas that carries chalk
Oil pastel on acrylic and canvas joins material and ambition in this price tier: a load-bearing ground and a chalk that shows color with depth. Paintings in this technique from 1,000 to 2,000 euro are for sale here.
For oil pastel to sit well on canvas, the ground needs structure and absorbency. Acrylic delivers both, and depending on application the surface feels smooth or grainy. On that base dense, deeply colored pictures can be built.

What the tier lets you expect
With originals from 1,000 to 2,000 euro, larger canvases are usual, often with several layers. The shadow-gap frame stresses the canvas as an object. If you prefer glass, it protects the soft wax from touch and dust.
Notes on durability
Ask about the build, protective layers and distance from warmth. Oil pastel on canvas is long-lived when it is not rubbed. A wall away from passageways is the safest choice.
