Drawing on a stretched surface
Charcoal over acrylic on canvas makes a picture with depth: the painted plane below, the drawing above. Paintings in acrylic on canvas with charcoal from 500 to 1,000 euro are for sale here, with marks that come alive in raking light.
On canvas, charcoal clings to the weave and gives the line a grainy structure. Acrylic below supplies a solid color plane, and the charcoal draws its line across it. With a fixative or varnish applied, the drawing stays stable. A look at the back often shows how carefully the canvas was stretched and finished.

Format and frame
In the 500 to 1,000 euro tier, originals often come in medium formats. A wooden shadow-gap frame wraps the canvas and leaves the edge free. A mat is not needed here, though glass can make sense.
Notes before buying
Ask whether the charcoal is fixed or protected under a layer of medium. Drawing on canvas gets touched easily, so a spot away from walkways is worth it.
