Oil that breathes on paper
The density of oil and the lightness of a sheet meet in oil paint on paper. Here you can find oil paintings on paper for sale in the 1,000 to 2,000 euro range that are often meant as fully developed works.
So that oil paint does not sink into the paper, the sheet is usually primed. On it the paint sits more matte and drier than on canvas, and the traces of the brush stay legible. A larger format on paper in this price range often shows a confidence that comes from sketching.

Light but protected
The sheet weighs little and can be framed behind glass. A mat prevents the paint from touching the glass. A frame of wood or aluminum holds the edges, and an acid-free backing protects the paper from yellowing.
Things to ask
Inquire about paper type, ground, and degree of drying. The question of margin width also helps with choosing the frame. For comparing with oil paintings on other supports, a look at oil paint is helpful.
