Craft as the yardstick
Oil on canvas with no style assignment remains pure craft: what counts is color, application, structure and courage for one’s own line. Oil paintings on canvas with no style given, for sale from 5,000 to 10,000 euro, show most directly how confidently a painter works.
In pictures with no style assignment the brush shows what is meant. A sure stroke, a clever distribution of color, a structure that carries: these are the marks of good painting, whether figurative, abstract or in between. Even the way a sky, a shadow or an edge is handled reveals experience.

A picture for many years
Oil paint ages with dignity when properly made. It tolerates room climate but needs distance from heating and constant light. A soft brush suffices for care, and moisture should be avoided. Try the picture on different walls, since light and color act very differently from room to room.
To weigh before buying
With pictures of this size, stretcher, cross braces and hanging are among the first questions. Have varnish and drying age confirmed, and request a certificate if one exists.
