One stroke, no way back
Brush writing in ink has a long tradition, from East Asian calligraphy to the free gesture on a large format. On this page you can find expressive ink painting for sale in which every stroke was set in one pull.
Ink cannot be scraped off or painted over. A gestural painter draws the brush through in a single breath, and that decisiveness is the appeal. If the hand falters, the gap reads as rhythm rather than as a mistake.

Emptiness is part of it
In this kind of painting the bare ground is part of the picture. Hang the piece with room around it so the space between the strokes can do its work. Ask about the support and its fixing before you decide, and look for lightfast ink.
Small differences in the stroke
Pay attention to how a stroke starts and ends: a sharp beginning and a trailing end reveal speed and pressure. You can spot such subtleties best in large, sharp photos in the listing. They also show whether the ink is saturated enough.
