Drawing under the paint
When pencil shows up in painting, it is often as a visible scaffold: lines that remain even though color lies over them. Painting with pencil under 500 euro for sale here shows its construction openly.
Many painters sketch in graphite first, others let the lines shine through thin glazes on purpose. That creates a fine web between design and execution. You can see how a picture found itself.

Small format, clear choice
In the tier under 500 euro, studies, sketch sheets and smaller panels are common. Pick a size that fits a specific wall, and note frame size and support. For mixed forms, ask how the graphite lines are protected.
What lies under the paint
Ask whether the pencil sits under, between or on the paint. If it lies open, it can rub off over time, so it needs protection. If it lies under glazes, it is shielded and remains as a fine framework.
