Confident in the material
Oil pastel from 5,000 to 10,000 euro shows what the material can do in experienced hands, namely depth, density and large format. Paintings with oil pastel at this level are for sale here, whether surreal or combined with oil on canvas.
In this price class, oil pastel pictures usually show long practice: dense layers, deliberately placed scratches, controlled gradients. The chalk is not treated as a quick sketch but as a full painting medium with its own sheen.

What the tier means
With originals from 5,000 to 10,000 euro, large formats, established positions and elaborate framing are usual. Ask about support, varnish or fixing and whether notes on exhibition history exist. That brings security.
Hanging at museum level
A picture of this size deserves a stable place: even temperature, indirect light, distance from heating and windows. A frame with conservation glass and back protection preserves wax and pigment. That keeps the picture in shape for a long time.
