Color as expression
Expressionism wants to make feeling visible, not depict reality: colors are too bright, forms distorted, brush marks plain to see. Expressionist mixed media on paper is for sale here for those who prefer intensity in sheet format.
Red here is not an apple but agitation. On paper the paint sits directly, without a primer, and lets strokes stand sharp. Charcoal, oil stick and ink give outlines hardness, and collage pieces break up the surface.

Room for force
Even smaller sheets can mark a room. A dark frame gives expressive colors a hold. To put the painting first, look at painting on paper. A little distance suits the hang. Expressive sheets tolerate neighbors but not competition, and too many loud works side by side cancel each other out. A quiet piece of furniture underneath provides balance.
Care
Saturated pigments and thick layers need a paper with weight. Ripples in the sheet are normal with wet techniques but should be flattened by proper framing. Ask about fixing and lightfastness.
