Between picture and sculpture
The wooden bas-relief turns the wall into a stage for light and shadow. You can find mixed media bas-reliefs in wood for sale here, sorted by style and price band, from abstract wall object to large format.
Bas-reliefs consist of wooden planes that are stacked, milled or sawn. Paint, metal, paper or plaster stress single zones. The result is a wall work that looks quite different from the side than from the front. Several layers of wood are often glued, stepped at the edges and then painted or stained. Because the relief stands just a few centimeters off the wall, it saves space and still feels sculptural.

Narrowing the selection
You find free forms under Abstract. On price, the bands run from 1,000 to 2,000 euro through 2,000 to 5,000 euro to 5,000 to 10,000 euro, with larger formats and more elaborate construction becoming more common.
Installation
With reliefs, fixing counts. Ask about weight, depth and mounting system. The wall must be load-bearing, and because of the shadows some room should remain around it. Avoid direct sun, which bleaches wood.
