A few centimeters, big effect
A bas-relief sits between picture and sculpture: forms rise a few centimeters off the ground, and the shadow moves with the light. You can find mixed media bas-reliefs for sale here when you want wall art that changes over the course of a day.
The relief can be carved, modeled, glued on or built up in layers. In mixed media, wood, plaster, paint and metal parts often come together. Because the rise stays shallow, the piece reads like a picture, yet the cast shadow makes it an object.

Hanging and lighting
A bas-relief needs a load-bearing hanging system and a wall where outlets or trim will not clash with raking light. Light falling at an angle traces every edge. Look at weight and depth in the listing. Reliefs in wood are one route, and abstract pieces bring free forms.
Price and effort
Reliefs take time: carving, modeling, layering, finishing. Accordingly the bands differ, from 1,000 to 2,000 euro up to 5,000 to 10,000 euro, mainly in size, mix of materials and depth of execution. Read the dimensions closely.
