A large relief takes up space without claiming floor. For originals at this level, larger formats and demanding construction are often to be expected, with paint, metal or paper as additions. Often several planes of solid wood are glued, milled and worked with paint, metal or wax. The relief stands just a few centimeters off the wall, but that depth is enough for raking light to draw a changing pattern.

What to look at
Do the descriptions state the wood species and surface protection? Is the work stable in itself and secured against warping? Ask about weight, depth and mounting material. Large reliefs can often only be hung by two people.
