Lines with a second meaning
Symbolist drawing narrates in lines, shadows and hints. You can buy symbolist mixed media drawings for sale here, with ink, watercolor and paper as the support.
A hand reaching out of water, a staircase with no destination: symbolist drawings condense motifs into riddle images. Mixed media adds transparency, stamps or pasted fragments that open and close the motif at once.

Hanging in groups
Symbolist sheets work in small groups, say three drawings side by side with equal gaps. They form a silent story. Alone, a sheet needs lots of white space so the eye can rest.
On choosing and price
Such drawings are often found under 500 euro. Pay attention to paper quality, details on fixative and light. Careful framing protects the fine tones for years. Symbolist drawings unfold best in calm, even light that neither glares nor throws shadows across the fine lines.
