Old paint, new blend
Mixed media with oil paint combines the slow color of the Old Masters with materials they never knew. You can find mixed media works in oil paint for sale here, sorted by style and price band.
Oil stays open for a long time, so collage parts, wax or pigment dust can be worked deep into the surface. The result is often a picture with body in which you can lose yourself in detail. Ingredients include wax, paper, canvas scraps and pigment powder. Because oil takes up these things without hiding them, structures stay visible that would vanish in other techniques.

Style and price as filters
If you like it non-representational, choose Abstract, if you want it reduced, Modern. On price, 1,000 to 2,000 euro and 2,000 to 5,000 euro sit close together but often bring larger formats and more elaborate construction.
Hints for buying
Look for descriptions of drying, varnish and support. Oil takes months to cure through; freshly finished works should not hang in the sun. Provide an even room temperature.
