Oil in dialogue
A modern collage idea in oil: do not paint everything that can also be glued in. You can find modern mixed media works in oil paint for sale here if you like the dialogue between brush and found piece.
Paper, fabric or metal parts are pressed into the paint and partly vanish beneath it. The modern attitude shows in the absence of frills: the build-up stays visible, and material is allowed to remain material. What stands out is how honest the material stays: a paper edge is not hidden, a trace of wax not smoothed. The oil holds everything together without disguising it, and makes the build-up legible.

Effect in the room
Such a work looks strongest as a single piece on a calm wall. Combine it with simple furniture, maybe a plant. Raking light makes the layers appear like a map.
Check and ask
Ask about adhesion of collage parts, varnish and weight. Paper soaked in oil gets darker, and the description should say so. Photos in different light give clues about the real hue.
