Original artwork description
During a visit to India I saw this Jaipur Tuk Tuk Wala waiting for a fare, his turban was a magnificent affair. As with the other portraits in this series this was a February morning and he was wrapped up against the chill.
I work in acrylic because it allows me to experiment, making changes quickly is paramount when wishing to explore my options. I apply the acrylic in successive washes to achieve a soft structure and then overpaint some areas with a more opaque use of the pigments. I use artists hogs hair brushes to apply and manipulate the paint with large 2 brushes to spread the washes. The work is painted on a Superior Rolled Canvas board as I like the rigidity and fine surface, plus the longevity and resistance to damage has a proven record.
Finally, the painting has a coat of acrylic varnish, this not only protects the painting but has a unifying effect. The work only needs framing to to make it ready to hang.
