Artplaner is a marketplace for original art. Independent artists list their own works, offer them under their own name and sell straight to buyers. The platform is run by a startup from Germany, on the Baltic Sea coast, in English and German.
For two sides. For artists who want to sell their originals online and need a shop of their own with a catalogue of works. And for buyers looking for an original straight from the studio, from drawings to sculpture. Every work is listed under Artworks.
The platform was developed by artist Uli Lächelt, with a background in programming, business management and community management. Artplaner has been online since the end of 2025. Who is part of it today is listed on the page Our Team.
Most artists pay 28 percent of the sale price to Artplaner. The plans list 30 and 35 percent; many artists have individual agreements that differ, in both directions. Galleries usually take 40 to 50 percent. Which rate applies depends on the agreement with the individual artist.
The works come from the studios, the artists list them themselves. Who your contractual seller is for a given purchase is set out in the terms and conditions for buyers: the contract is concluded either with the artist as seller or with Artplaner as seller. Returns and withdrawal follow the cancellation policy, and nothing else.
That is up to the artist. Many artists on Artplaner include a certificate of authenticity with their works, but it is not guaranteed. If a certificate matters to you, ask on the work before buying; the answer comes within 24 hours. More answers for buyers are in the frequently asked questions on buying art.
Through an application that takes 30 minutes at most. Once accepted, artists set up their shop, upload works and sell under their own name. The membership comes in several plans, some of which include presentation in the Artsy network. Here are the plans side by side and the application.
Artplaner is co-financed by the European Union.
