Space that the stone gives up
Negative space matters as much as stone in abstract marble sculpture: the opening counts for as much as the wall beside it. Abstract marble sculptures for sale between 1,000 and 2,000 euro belong in rooms that can take calm and tension together.
Whoever abstracts in marble works with breakthroughs, curves and tensions between mass and void. The stone can turn paper-thin in one spot and stay heavy as a boulder in another. Light enters, scatters and creates a luminosity that wood or metal never have. The smoother the polish, the stronger the effect.

Display case, plinth, wall niche
A niche with side light or a plinth set slightly off the wall lets such sculptures work best. Ask about fixing dowels if the piece sits on a plate, and about protective felt. Clean only dry or with a slightly damp cloth, then dry it right away. Look at the transition between polished and rough zones to see how carefully the piece was made. Ask too whether the stone consists of a single block.
