Swell, hole and edge
A whole posture can be ground out of a small marble block: a swell, a hole, an edge that ends exactly where the light tips. Abstract marble sculptures for sale at 500 to 1,000 euro suit anyone who wants the stone itself to play the lead.
Abstract marble work in small format often concentrates on a single idea. A pierced body lets light and gaze pass through, a tilted plane catches shadow, a smooth curve stands against a spot left rough. Every decision is final, since stone forgives no mistake. You can feel that in the calm of such forms.

Setting up and choosing
With reduced forms, the quality of the polish counts. Ask whether it is waxed and how the underside was treated. A light plinth makes white stone disappear, while a dark block of wood gives it contour. Marble looks good on windowsills but suffers from moisture and acid, so it does not belong next to flower vases. A photo of the underside shows whether the stone was ground cleanly and fitted with felt.
