Materials in conversation
In modern mixed media sculpture, different materials sit side by side without hiding each other. Modern mixed media sculptures for sale between 2,000 and 5,000 euro are for anyone who likes joints, layers and contrasts.
A block of concrete carries a thin steel plate, wood meets glass, waxed fabric wraps a core. The friction between substances is intended, since it makes each material clearer. Cold next to warm, rough next to smooth: this creates tensions no single material would produce alone.

Calm around it
Modern mixed pieces work best when little competes nearby. A plain sideboard, a plinth or a windowsill with free surface is enough. Light from the side brings out the highs and lows in the surfaces.
Clarify durability
Different substances expand differently. How are the parts joined, glued, screwed or slotted? Ask about care, light sensitivity and whether the work may be transported or taken apart.
