In giclée, a motif is printed with fine nozzles in several layers of pigment ink onto high-quality paper. Giclée prints for sale under 500 euro suit you if fidelity of detail, depth of color, and a calm paper surface matter to you.
Unlike hand printing, the plate is replaced by a digital file. The color arrives in thousands of droplets that blend into flowing gradients. On cotton paper this looks soft, on aluminum or canvas more pronounced. Sharpness and color range exceed those of many hand-printing processes, while the tactility is calmer.

Recognizing editions
Some giclées reproduce an existing painting, others began life as digital originals. A limited edition, signature, and certificate of authenticity matter. Comic and illustrative motifs are common, as are works on paper with a wide margin. If you want a larger format, giclées make it easier to fill a wall without the price rising quickly.
Care and framing
Pigment inks are considered lightfast, yet giclées still belong behind UV glass. An acid-free mat protects the paper, and a gap between glass and print keeps the surface from sticking to the glass. Ask for the paper brand and ink type, then you can judge durability.
