A plate built from found materials
In collagraph the plate itself carries the image: glued-on materials create relief that ink and paper make visible. Collagraphs with ink are for sale, whether abstract, under 500 euro or 500 to 1,000 euro.
Cardboard, gauze, sand, threads: the printing plate is glued together from such materials and then sealed. The ink settles differently on raised parts and in hollows. Under the press the relief embosses into the paper and stays readable even without color.

Light that draws structure
A collagraph lives on light that falls across the surface at an angle. Plan the wall with side light or a spotlight set at some distance. A deep frame keeps the glass away and protects the raised areas from pressure.
Questions before buying
Because plates wear down during printing, editions are often small. Ask about number, paper, plate size and signature. Thick paper carries the relief best, thin paper presses it flat. Questions about care and hanging belong here too.
