Gesture instead of object
Expressive photography works with tempo: a camera sweep, a streak of light, a body in motion, and the picture gets a pulse. You can find photographs of this kind for sale at 500 to 1,000 euro here, in medium formats with plenty of energy.
The photographer does not record what stands there but what happens. Smears, wipes and ribbons of light tell of time that passed during the exposure. That produces pictures closer to a drawing than a snapshot, yet they remain entirely photographic.

Using energy in doses
A dynamic picture fills a wall almost alone. Allow for distance from furniture and other pictures. In rooms with clear lines it acts as a counterpoint, in a room full of patterns the gesture gets lost easily.
