Light and distance
A large color picture needs a viewing distance of at least two arm lengths. Hang it in a room where you can step back, and avoid direct sunlight on the glass.
Checking quality
Look for details on paper, process and lightfastness, as well as edition and signature. With large formats, packaging matters too, so the print arrives undamaged. Ask about the framing. Give the picture time on the wall before you fix it for good. A few days of trial hanging show whether the colors cooperate with the everyday light in your room or work against it. A few more inches of distance from the ceiling can make a lot of difference.
