Meaning in layers
At large scale, symbolist watercolor from 1,000 to 2,000 euro feels like a silent dream. If you want symbolist watercolors in this price tier for sale, you will find sheets on which figures, gates and stars carry meaning.
On large paper, symbols can be set apart so each sign works on its own. The water-based paint lets contours blur, and the scene gains something remote. Gold, silver or ink accent individual spots. These include stars, doors, water and animals as messengers.

In the room
A large symbolist sheet leads the eye and asks for calm. It suits rooms with few other pictures, perhaps a study or a library. Soft light makes the colors shimmer. It is worth viewing the sheet in the evening under artificial light, when it often looks entirely different.
Finally
With gold and metallic portions, ask whether they are lightfast. Mat and glass belong in the description too. Ask about UV protection and spacing in the frame.
