Light in many layers
At 1,000 to 2,000 euro, impressionist watercolor reaches a depth reminiscent of oil paintings yet stays light and transparent. If you want impressionist watercolors in this price tier for sale, you will find large sheets of light, water and expanse.
On large sheets an experienced painter builds lights and shadows step by step. Cool blues in the distance, warm ochres in the foreground, paper white in between for clouds and waves. The impression of depth arises without heavy layers of paint. Hazy distances, glittering water and wide skies are frequent subjects here.

As a wall picture
A large watercolor of sky and water opens the room visually. It suits the space above a sofa, dining table or fireplace. What matters is that daylight does not fall directly on the sheet. Hang the sheet at eye level so the horizon merges with the gaze.
Buying notes
Ask about paper, dimensions and framing. Large sheets should be framed with spacers so the paper can breathe without sticking to the glass. Museum glass makes sense if the sheet hangs in a bright room.
