Signs with a false bottom
Symbolist painting tells its story in signs: a key, a staircase or a bird mean more than they show. If you want symbolism paintings in acrylic for sale at 2,000 to 5,000 euro, give yourself time to read them, because these pictures open up on the second look.
Symbolism lives on motifs that carry a second layer. Acrylic allows fine glazes over an opaque underpainting, so figures emerge from darkness and backgrounds stay quiet. Thin, pale layers in particular look very clear in acrylic. If you later want to explain the motifs to guests, such pictures give a lasting reason to talk, since new details keep stepping forward.

A picture that asks questions
Hang symbolic works where they are seen both in passing and while sitting, say in a hallway and across from the sofa. They change their message with distance: from afar the whole figure counts, up close the detail.
On the price band
The range of 2,000 to 5,000 euro often covers carefully worked single pictures with a long making time. Read the work description for notes on interpretation, which artists frequently add themselves.
