Craft lies in the open
Oil on canvas is the basic form of painting, and with no fixed style what remains is mostly craft: brushwork, color mixing and composition. Oil paintings on canvas with no style label for sale from 2,000 to 5,000 euro show most directly what the painter can do.
Without a stated style, the picture has to convince on its own. That shows in the shift from light to dark, in the weight of the colors and in how an edge is handled. Oil forgives little, but it rewards care with depth. The picture may be calm or wild, figurative or free; what decides is how convincing the stroke is.

Plenty of places to hang it
Because the picture follows no pattern, it combines with very different furniture. Try hanging it at eye level in two or three places and watch how daylight and lamplight change it. Mirrors, shelves and doors in the line of sight also affect how much room the painting gets.
To check before buying
Read the notes on varnish, stretcher depth and signature. And ask how long the picture has dried before it is shipped or framed.
