The impossible, finely painted
Surrealism loves the exactness of old painting techniques, since only they make the impossible believable. Anyone seeking surreal tempera paintings from 2,000 to 5,000 euro for sale wants enigmatic scenes in coolly glowing colors.
A floating stone, a staircase into nothing, a room that opens like a book: with tempera such pictures can be executed in the finest hatching. Every detail looks sharp, the paint matte and clear. Imagination thereby gains a sober footing.

Scale and weight of the work
Originals from 2,000 to 5,000 euro are often larger panels with complex structure. Ask about the time of creation, since careful tempera work often takes many weeks. You notice it in the density of the layers.
Showing it with care
Surreal tempera works best in subdued, even light. Spots create reflections on the matte surface. Hung at eye level, the picture lets you follow the fine strokes. A narrow frame in dark wood suits the old-master character.
