The support shapes the character
Abstract acrylic can sit on canvas just as well as on a wood panel, paper or aluminum, and each support changes how the paint behaves. Whoever shops for abstract acrylic paintings for sale in the 2,000 to 5,000 euro range should look at the support right alongside the image.
On a wood panel the stroke turns hard and precise, on paper it goes soft and absorbent, on canvas it feels springy. Acrylic goes along with all of it: it bonds to primed surfaces, stays flexible and does not yellow. That is why abstract acrylic work ranges from delicate glazed veils to dense, almost lacquered planes.

Hanging made easy
Acrylic on panel is often flat and light, so it fits narrow hallways or leans on a shelf. Still, keep it out of strong sun. The pigments may be lightfast, but heat makes supports move.
Questions for the listing
Note the support, the ground and any protective coat. That tells you whether the piece wants a frame, a varnish or only a gentle dusting. For panels, a look at the back with its hanging hardware is worth your time.
