Light from the paper
For impressionism, watercolor was almost a law of nature: it holds the light that shines through the glaze. If you want impressionist watercolors for sale, you will find sheets full of atmosphere in which objects turn into flecks of light.
In watercolor, the white of the paper shines through every color. That gives skies and water surfaces the inner glow that oil only reaches with opaque white. Wave patterns and foliage often consist only of dabs and short strokes. Between clouds and water the tones travel from warm yellow to cool blue.

Space and mood
Impressionist watercolors make rooms friendlier. On a pale wall they show their delicacy, on dark walls they glow more. A place with changing but soft light lets the picture look different through the day.
When selecting
Good descriptions give dimensions, paper and technique. Ask about the depth of the frame if the sheet is to hang with distance to the glass. For the frame, a spacer that gives the paper air is recommended.
