Chance as a coworker
Watercolor meets abstraction: a technique that lives on the chance of water, and a style that needs no subject. If you want abstract watercolors for sale, you are often after sheets on which colors touch, blend and form edges.
In abstract watercolor painting, the painter works with the paper as with a partner. They tilt the sheet, let paint run, dab it away with cloth or scatter salt into it. Structures arise that no brush alone could draw. Some sheets stay almost monochrome, others tip from warm to cold.

Hanging and lighting
The sheet looks alive when soft light falls sideways across the paper and brings out the grain of the pigments. A wooden frame in a natural tone holds the delicacy together. Avoid rooms with steam and high humidity. A spot with some distance from other pictures gives the color room.
Clarify when buying
Check whether the paper is acid-free and whether gum arabic or a synthetic resin serves as the binder. Signature and format should be in the description, too.
