Wax instead of spray can
Urban and Pop in oil pastel are poster colors you can touch: strong, direct and with the warmth of wax. Paintings in the Urban and Pop style with oil pastel are for sale here, also in the range 500 to 1,000 euro or on acrylic on canvas.
Oil pastel comes close to spray paint in directness but needs no mask and hardly any preparation. Thick sticks make planes, points make sharp contours and lettering. Color over color stays opaque, a feature that carries the glowing tones.

Space for show-stoppers
Urban Pop pictures work where there is room: open kitchen, office, hallway. A white or black frame tames the colors. Combine two sheets with the same margin into a small series and keep distance from furniture with lively patterns.
Checking durability
Neon and pastel tones react to light more sensitively than earth colors. UV glass helps, and so does a spot away from the sun. Oil pastel stays soft, so never glass directly on the color but always with spacing through a mat.
