Originals in this selection, Assemblage.
Built from what is left over
Assemblage builds an object from found things: scraps of wood, metal parts, string, old tools. You can browse assemblage mixed media for sale for the wall or a shelf if you like art that brings its own depth and the history of its parts.
Unlike a picture, nothing lies flat: parts are screwed, sewn, glued or set into a box. Rust, patina and wear belong to the effect, and so does the question of why these things sit side by side. Often the result is a display case in which every piece keeps its own weight.

Hanging, standing, dusting
Check how heavy the object is and whether the back has a stable hanging system. Open constructions collect dust, and a soft brush works better than a cloth. A listing reads well when it gives dimensions including depth, because with assemblage the depth decides how much space you need.
What the listing should reveal
It helps when the origin of the parts is named: wood, metal, textile, glass. Then you can judge how sturdy the object is and whether rust or lacquer might still rub off. The type of joins, riveted, glued or bound, also says a lot about durability.
