Color in relief
Abstract painting on plaster goes beyond color: the ground has height, pores and edges. Anyone who wants abstract painted mixed media with plaster for sale is after pictures that read almost like landscapes on the wall.
Plaster lets paint run into grooves and pores and forms landscapes of heights and hollows. Abstract painters strengthen that with thin glazes, dry brushwork or scratched lines. What is seen and what is felt meet: it looks like surface and feels like space.

Color and room light
Matte paints on plaster soak up light, gloss varnishes throw it back. Depending on treatment, the picture feels more fabric-like or more glassy. Ask in the description about paint type and protective layer, and how the work is best cleaned.
Hang it stably
Plaster is heavy and brittle. A solid hang with two points prevents tilting. Carry the work upright and never stand it on a corner. Plaster does not take hard knocks, and wet cleaning is off limits.
