Trace and surface
Abstract graphite drawings leave open what they are and push stroke, area and rhythm to the front. You can buy abstract graphite sheets for sale under 500 euro if you look for art that starts quietly and lasts long.
Graphite can do anything: thin lines become nets, rubbed passages become fog, dense layers become almost metallic plates. Without a figurative motif, the quality of the stroke and its distribution on the sheet decide the effect. Every pause in the stroke counts, every gap, every shift from light to dark, since without a motif only the composition remains for the eye to hold on to.

Size and hanging
Abstract works at this price level are often small to medium formats that combine well into groups. Square frames, slim moldings and a lot of white in the mat give them a stage without fixing them.
Clarify the orientation
With abstract sheets it is not always clear which way is up. Ask about hanging and about where the signature sits.
