Graphite as haze
Impressionist graphite drawings condense light and movement into a soft mood. You can buy impressionist graphite sheets for sale under 500 euro when a small picture should let the room breathe.
Drawn with the flank of the stick, graphite lays a fine veil on the paper in which contours blur. Short strokes then set accents on it: a sail, a tree trunk, a glimmer on the water. That is how the typical fleetingness of impressionism arises.

Gently framed
A frame of light wood with a generous mat works best for these sheets because it takes up the softness. A dark frame would press on the delicacy.
Examine the original
Because the effect lives on paper grain and graphite sheen, detail photos are helpful. There you see whether the stroke was handled loosely and independently. Small formats are an advantage here, since impressionist condensation works especially concentrated on little surface, almost like a view through a window.
