Gray that shimmers
A pencil in the impressionist manner draws no contours but atmosphere made of a thousand short strokes. Impressionist pencil drawings for sale from 1,000 to 2,000 euro suit those who enjoy the shimmer of light in gray.
Soft leads supply a velvety dark, hard leads the points of light in between. Where many strokes cross, the paper begins to vibrate. The effect recalls a painting seen in a black and white film, without any hue missing.

Hanging with room to spare
Larger sheets of this kind do best alone, with a wide mat that gives the strokes room to run out. A light wood frame suits graphite if the room has plenty of daylight. Avoid direct sun, which yellows paper.
Questions worth asking
Ask about paper weight, the lead and the state of the edges. A detail photo in raking light reveals the stroke structure. Signature and dating belong in the description.
