An idea in a few strokes
A surreal sketch leaves open what it shows, and that makes it a good conversation partner. You can buy surrealist pencil sketches for sale here if ideas matter more to you than execution.
In a sketch the idea still shows undisguised: a figure with bird legs, a room whose floor turns into the ceiling, a shadow without a body. A few sure lines are enough, and the eye supplies the rest. The pencil stays light and mobile throughout. Sometimes the sketch is even stronger than the finished piece because it leaves the viewer room to spin the riddle further instead of serving it ready-made.
