Original artwork description

70x50 cm, print and acrylics on paper. Framed in a white wooden frame without glass. Can be framed in a blank woorden frame on request.

This artwork is a monotype: a print on paper, made unique by applying paint and screen print. There is only one edition.

This abstract artwork in blue and green colors is inspired by ancient history. The handwritten texts and screen printed texts in it refer to what the wold must have been like thousands of years ago.

Inspiration:

The Dutch coast is on the edge of a huge drowned land: Doggerland. One valley in particular was central to Doggerland’s story. A delta where the ancient Rhine, Meuse, Seine, and Thames rivers converged into a mighty waterway. Here, the rivers carved a green and fertile sanctuary, a place of abundance even in the depths of winter. When the rivers froze, they awaited the spring thaw, bursting forth in floods that nourished the land. Plants grew thick along the riverbanks, drawing grazers and hunters alike to this life-giving corridor. Further away from the rivers, the land grew colder, starker, and less forgiving. You can read more about it in the description.
