Doris Duschelbauer was born in Heilbronn, Germany.
After her Artistic Baccalaureate she also trained and worked in various painters' studios in Guatemala, Mexico, the United States and Spain.
She spent two years backpacking through South and North America, which shaped her life philosophy. She lived for some years in Montreal and then in Hamburg before deciding to settle on the island of Mallorca in Spain.
There, she captures the essence of these special experiences, combined with the splendor and energy of the Mediterranean. Her abstract paintings are created from many layers of paint, which she sometimes sands down to the very last to reveal the hidden, the past. An interplay between the hidden and the new, like a journey through time.
“For me, each painting has its own life. The layers reflect its stages. Sanding them allows me to discover moments from the past. Other parts remain hidden, like moments gone forever.”
