This oil on a linen canvas features the southern face of the Sainte-Victoire mountain, made famous by Cézanne. It was ainted with brushes and palette knife from sketches and watercolors made on location in summer. The ochre and red hues of the rocks and the dark green of the trees contrast with the deep blue of the sky. The overall effect has been simplified to retain only the essentials.
