With Mountain Yogi 89-22, I wanted to explore the delicate balance between physical strength and inner stillness.
Rather than portraying a complete figure, I chose the expressive power of a mans back. Without a face or a gaze to guide the viewer, the sculpture becomes universal. It speaks of resilience, contemplation, and the invisible energy that shapes every human being.
The title combines two worlds that inspire me: the unwavering presence of a mountain and the peaceful concentration of a yogi. Between these two images lies the essence of this sculpture—a moment suspended between grounding and elevation.
I create my sculptures using my own metal lace technique. Molten steel and bronze are deposited drop by drop, allowing the material to become surprisingly light and transparent. Light passes through the open structure, constantly transforming the artwork throughout the day and revealing new details from every angle.
The bronze back appears to emerge from an organic steel structure, as if the body were slowly being born from the metal itself. This dialogue between solidity and emptiness, weight and light, is at the heart of my artistic research.
