Original artwork description
Well what can one say about a Still Life painting, it is what it is. This particular painting is a warm evocation of stuff that has been hanging around in my studio. Obviously the fruit didnt hang around that long, as I ate the one and returned the other to my wifes kitchen. It may owe some homage to the Dutch school, but it was not my intention, I painted it with an unconscious hand and eye. It is painted on a EssDee canvas finish board and it has a coat of Winsor Newton UV varnish for protection.
Acrylic on canvas board, this painting has a base coat of burnt orange or raw sienna and consists of further opaque pigments with subsequent layers of colour washes. This building of the work gives it texture and controlled vibrance. It just needs to be framed and hung.
