Le dyke de la Roque

Original artwork description

This oil painting depicts the western end of Lake Salagou, featuring the Roque dike, an ancient volcanic vent. In the background, the first foothills of the Larzac plateau can be seen. The red ochre of the ruffes (ruffes, a type of volcanic rock) and the complementary green of the vegetation contrast with the colors of the sky reflected in the lake's waters. It was painted in the studio on  a linen canvas, based on sketches and watercolors made along the "ford road" between the villages of Octon and Salasc. This work is framed as shown in the photograph.
It is also available unframed upon request.
