This watercolour was made in-situ in october 2024 near the village of Mourèze in the south of France. Located in the heart of the Hérault department in the Occitanie region, Mourèze is a charming little village of 250 inhabitants which offers a breathtaking landscape, unique in France: the Dolomitic cirque, a concentration of rocks with familiar shapes ( monkey, lion, damsel,sphinx,....In this work the late morning light illuminates the village and the vegetation in the foreground, creating a strong contrast between the lit areas and those still in shadow. The pine trees, dried out by the summer, and the few deciduous trees that have already taken on their autumnal colors are illuminated by the sun, bringing a note of tranquility and serenity.
