Perspectives – Photo Collage Print Overpaintings
Starting with photographs that are themselves works of art, the motifs are combined in such a way that they merge into a new statement, initially (and intentionally) unsettling the viewer's perception. The resulting photo collage is then reworked so that the depicted nature and the painting blend harmoniously.
Perspectives are everywhere. Archways and bridges, in their openness, reveal things no one would expect to find there. The collages aim to disorient and provoke reflection. The sky opens up, revealing clouds of stone. An apple is transparent, hinting at its origin, as a tree is embedded within it. Individual objects—the center of the image—and unfamiliar combinatorial ways of seeing become the focus of the painting.
