Photo Print Overpainting
“Willi Lemke wouldn’t be the experimental artist he is if he hadn’t immediately tried to develop this technique further. He juxtaposes the painted image with a photograph of his beloved natural surroundings. Now, however, the photograph remains, no longer merely a memory aid. These printed photographs are then overpainted with acrylic paint, with areas of color applied with concentrated strokes and delineated with black lines. The areas blend seamlessly into the image, into nature, and emphasize the respective natural character. Different pictorial concepts are combined in a dynamic and compelling way to form a new whole.”*
